Review - Barry M Lipstick

So I have a new lipstick that has become, probably the new love of my life (in terms of lipstick)

Its a Barry M lip paint and I can not remember the name of the shade but basically if you see a green lipstick please pick it up!! this is what it is,

Sorry for the blurry close up, but it really turns a lovely pink, and over a foundation on me it goes even more shockingly pink! This lipstick costs £4.49 and has been the best liptick I have brought so far for the colour! Its a great pink shade and the best thing is that it adapts to your skin tone. Meaning the colour will be different for you, its going to be the perfect pink colour for you! The lasting power is amazing! I went about 8hours without having to re-apply, because it fades all over at the same time. It makes it easy to go long times and not have to worry about touch ups. One bad thing is that if you do re-apply over the top a few times like I have before it can stain your lips especially if there are any dry patches, as it will stick to them.

Pro's
Long Lasting
Great Colour
Moisturising on the lips

Con's
Can Stain lips

I will definatly be buying another one of these when Ive finished it! 5/5

Eczema, My Story.

Im sat at my desk wondering what on earth to review or write about for you guys. Ive only just started to use my new skin care products so I cant really talk about my skin care regime yet. I havnt really been testing out any makeup or wearing any lately.
The only thing staring me in the face is the cream for my eczema.

When I started my new job I loved it, however the one problem has been the changes its made to my skin, being in a stockroom surrounded by dirt, and dust has given me hell for my skin. Im finally on track with my face and the break outs are under control, but my eczema has gotten ALOT worse. It came back on my inside elbow and my legs have suffered aswell.

So Im going to tell you a little about my eczema.

Im not exactly sure when I first got my eczema, it may possibly have been something Ive had all my life, but my first proper memories of it being bad, and I use the term bad very loosely as some doctors call it a severe case, was probably around 10 years ago. I first noticed it on the insides of my calfs and my elbows. It had gotten red/sore/very itchy after a recent school trip. Doctors assumed it was due to allergies that caused it to suddenly get worse.  Which is completely understandable as I am allergic to some washing powders (what a hassle that is when you split your time between your home and your partners home!)

But I was put straight away on a Hydrocortisone cream and told to apply it around 3 times a day for as long as it takes to recover. I assume it went away for a while or was 'under control' because I don't really recall going back to the doctors for a while.

The next memory I have is of myself lying on my bed having cream slathered all over the backs of my legs, behind my knees and my dad saying that it looked much worse then his eczema. My dads is that typical red/dry flaky skin associated with eczema. However I started to suffer from terrible itching and would scratch so much that I tore chunks of skin out of my legs. At around 15 thats difficult to deal with. I hated the way my legs were looking. So off we went to the doctors again, and once more I was given hydrocortisone cream but at a much stronger strength. Thankfully this stronger cream got rid of the eczema in my arm, the same sadly can not be said for my legs. I then remember going to the doctors every month or so and all the time being given stronger creams to deal with the condition my legs were in. This went onto an even stronger cream called Betnovate and an even stronger one called Dermovate, one of the strongest creams used to treat eczema. Around 17/18 I began to notice a few changes in my skin. The eczema was getting no better, and when I did scratch, even the smallest amount, I was leaving deep gashes in my skin. What I had never been told is that these creams all are a steroid based cream. My directions for them were always apply as much needed as often as needed. All I can say is how wrong that is. I look at my legs now and I feel a mixture of feelings. Sometimes I feel disgust because I have to look at them day in day out, and there are days where Ive scratched so badly huge chunks are missing, theres scaring all over from where parts have healed. I feel embarrassed if anyone else looks at them, but mostly I feel sad because my legs are now in a state that I just dont think can ever be fixed. While Im slowly begining to accept my legs, im still saddened by the fact that these steroid creams have made my situation worse.
Using the steroid creams for such a pro-longed period of time has had these side effects for me:
  • Thinning of the skin. Especially in my legs, one accidentle catch of my finger nail of my skin for example while putting on tights will rip my skin open and bleed, almost like Ive cut myself shaving.
  • Permanent Striae. This is pretty much marks on the skin that look very similar to stretch marks but they can not be got rid of.
  • Discolouration. My legs are now pretty much a reddish/purple tone. It is more visable when wet but it is there enough for people to notice. Which puts me down, somehow this discolouration just worsens the overall effect of the eczema it makes it look about 10x worse.
Not to mention the effect it has had on my self-esteem. I can not wear dresses or shorts without a pair of leggins or thick tights under.  I can only wear skin coloured tights if Im having a 'good day' I personally can not shave my legs as much as I would want to and often have to tell my partner to ignore my fuzzy-ness. All of this slightly begins to change how 'pretty' you feel you are. However lately I have come over leaps and bounds in my feelings towards my eczema. It doesnt stop me feeling pretty anymore and Im over the insecurites it once gave me. I now accept that I pretty much will have this the rest of my life, and while I have days I just want to chop my legs off through irritation, it is a part of me and I accept that now. Im never getting rid of this and yes I feel sad about it, but I just cope and get on with it, because it doesnt change who I am as a person.

After I noticed the damage it was doing to my skin at 18 I stopped using creams and turned to moisturisers instead, a good one I reccomend is Garnier Hydralock.

Right now Im back on a hydrocortisone cream. BUT I have a new knowledge of how to apply this and it has worked wonders for me in two days using it like this.
First of the exact cream I have is 'Eurax Hc Cream. Which contains Hydrocortisone(0.25%) & Crotamiton  Heres a picture.
I got this prescribed to me by my doctor but you can pick it up in most pharmacies over the counter. (You can see here it cost me £3.79 rather then the £7odd I pay for prescriptions!)
Onto the usage!!
Only use for a maximum of 7 days.
Apply an aqueous cream or moisturiser first and let it sink in for 20 minutes.
Then apply the hydrocortisone cream using a FTU (finger tip unit) guidance. A fingertip counts as from the tip of your index finger to the first crease. One FTU will cover an area twice the size of the palm of your hand. So to do the inside on my leg I would take one FTU. You can find out more about FTU's here (for adults and children).

After two days of using creams in this way the inside elbow of my arm has calmed down a huge amound its now just a slightly red slighty dry area of skin, my legs are still far from perfect but the crotamiton in the cream certainly eases the itching. Because I am worried any further effect this cream with have on my legs I will only use it every other day for a week and continue to moisturise. For now Im just hoping I can get an improvement in my eczema, I would love for it to calm down enough to enable me to wear a dress without thick black tights on my 23rd birthday in June. Wish me luck guys :)
And if any of you suffer eczema I would love to know your story and how you deal with it.

Review - Andrew Barton 'I Love Curls' Hair Curler

So I wanted a fat barreled curler for adding slight waves to my hair. My straighteners dont glide easily through my hair so its a hassle to get this slightly waved look. And I have a curling wand so waves are out of the question with that aswell! I ended up going for the Andrew Barton 'I Love Curls' professional hair curler. It cost me £19.99 and can be purchased here.
This is the kind of look I was aiming for and it gives it with hardly any effort. There are 11 different heat settings for your hair, but in all honesty I just stick it straight up to 200 and curl away. Im sure with lesser heat I could achieve different looks.
As you can tell it mostly works on the ends of my hair, as its so fine and kind of short the curls fall loosely at the ends of my hair. If you have longer hair Im sure a different look can be achieved.

The curler itself has three buttons. An on/off button and one to change the temp up and another the turn it down. The problem with these buttons is the ones for the temp are right by where my thumb rests so I have accidently turned the heat down while curling! However it isnt such a big issue that it turned me off using them! The curlers take between 30seconds to a minute to heat up. You know they are ready when the heat you have selected stops flashing on the display.

This is the box they came in because my picture of them isnt very good!
The curlers are 33mm barrel.
I am happy with this purchase and so glad I have a styling tool that can give me effortless loose waves/curls!

Have you tried these? Or anything else in the Andrew Barton range? I also tried his 'Making Waves' hair waver you can see the results here.

Review: Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss

These lipglosses were part of a giveaway I won from the lovely Nina. Check her blog out here.

Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss. I have two colours:
03 Candy Bar

02 My Favorite Milkshake

These have a rather nifty little applicator which as far as I can tell has been designed to fit perfectly onto your lips.

I like this, it makes the lipgloss a little unique from others that I have tried and makes it easy to apply which is a good thing for me as some wands are too big for my thin top lip.

The colours are not as pigmented as they look in the tube, here they are on my lips:

This is candy bar. On the lips it looks a nice coral like colour with both pink and orange tones in it. I would wear this over a orange toned lipstick. This is possibly my favorite out of the two lipglosses.

This is My favorite milkshake, while I like this the colour is not too noticeable it would be great for a nude makeup look as the gloss itself is not really overpowering or too 'glossy'. It has just the right amount of shine to it!
These did not last especially long on my lips and top ups are needed often which is to be expected from any lipgloss.
The feel of these lipglosses was very creamy and while they are not sticky it is a heavy texture and I was very aware of them on my lips. Im still not a big lipgloss lover so the fact I was constantly thinking 'I have this heavy lipgloss on my lips' was a bit of a put off. Saying that any lipgloss lover would love to own these!
After doing a bit of research online I can see these lipglosses cost around €2.49 and are only available in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and I think the USA however I am sure you can pick them up on ebay cheaply enough.

Pro's
Nice colours
Just the right amount of shine
Nice applicator
Good Price
Nice packaging

Con's
Not as pigmented as in the tube (but can be built up)
Slightly 'heavy' feeling to the gloss
Not easily available in every country
Not as long lasting as I had hoped

I would rate this at 3.5/5 but I dont think I will repurchase as Im not a huge lipgloss fan but I would reccomend to a friend!!

What do you think of thes glosses if you have tried them? Or if you could get hold of them would you buy them? xx

Blogger Tag

Enigmatic Rambles tagged anyone to do this tag, and I love reading her posts so decided to do it too, she has some great nail posts you should check her out! I also tag anyone that might be interested in doing this!

1) What inspired you to start your blog?

I started reading blogs to get inspiration for my growing love of makeup. I also wanted to branch out more and find affordable products people liked, I started to buy more and experiment more and I thought it would be nice to write a blog so I could track where I was going and share my experiences with starting my makeup addiction! It wasnt so much about telling people more giving myself an outlet to talk about it because lets face it, to my boyfriend a mascara is a mascara and he doesnt care what they do and what I think of them, so I needed somewhere to pop it all down!

2) What advice would you give to a beginner blogger?

Only start if it is something you want to do. I look at my blog as a sort of mini makeup diary. Sometimes I have alot to say and will blog alot sometimes I dont feel like writing anything. Dont feel pressured to write something all the time and do it because you want to blog, not get free stuff and money from it.

3) What do you like most about blogging?

I love the creative outlet, I like taking the pictures writing the words and even having a little chuckle to myself when I write it all down. But most of all I like when people talk back to you, theres some really nice people out there and its nice when you all say hello :)

4) What do you dislike most about blogging?

Finding time or inspiration, I have so much to do between work, trying to fit in family, a boyfriend, my boyfriends son and his family that I dont often get time to blog. But that is the only thing I dislike trying to fit it all in!

5) What are your favourite blogs or types of posts to read?

I love reading high street/drugstore makeup reviews. Im always on a budget and I want to know what does the job on a cheap price!! But I do still enjoy reading everything people post whether thats the high end stuff I can only dream of buying or the cheap and cheerful! I also like more personal posts like when people give you a little about their lives, like day in the life posts (although they do work better as videos on youtube!!)

6) What is your personal favourite post you've written?

Erm Im not sure if I have one. I now on reviews include a pro's/con's list at the end as a good way to sum up how I feel on a product. I suppose one of my favorite posts would be my avon mascara review http://littleprettythingys.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/review-avon-super-shock-mascara.html Its my first proper mascara review and I love mascaras, so thats probably why I picked it!!

7) Do people in your personal life support your blog?

I dont think very many people know about it. My partner does although hes never read it, he supports me and is glad that I have something to do in my spare time to stop me getting bored! My dad and a few friends know Im on youtube so I suppose they may have sussed I blog aswell. But everyone is supportive and no one has ever told me its a silly thing to do. I suppose as its a hobby for me I dont care what people think anyway!

8) If you could change anything about blogger (or any other blog platform you use), what would it be?

Templates are so hard to use and Im a complete techno-phobe I have no idea what HTML is let alone how to use it! And how do people get pictures in their backgrounds or where their title goes to make it so individual??!! I need some kind of idiot's guide provided because I do need help in that area!

9) How long does it take you to complete a post?

It depends on the blog post if I have pictures already ect. I find when Im writing it all comes pretty quickly and I can form a post in about half an hour. Maybe a bit longer if its a sudden spur of the moment and I need to get pictures!!

10) How do you deal with hate?

Ive not had any on blogger, but I have on youtube. Well it was more of a troll, He basically said 'who's on drugs? the girl with the bleach blonde hair' I found it funny someone would think Im on drugs and yes my hair is bleached I wanted it that way its really no big dig! I just laugh it off because its not worth bothering about! If someone was to say something to one of my readers or commenters then I would delete their comments straight away you can hate on me, but not on people that talk to me!

11) When/why did you first start reading blogs?

I started reading blogs about a year ago or so.

12) What was the first blog you followed?

I dont know I loved pixiwoo on youtube so it was probably theirs.

13) How many blogs do you follow?

hmmm only 84 on here but theres many more I follow though hello cotton, as I use that to follow blogs more then blogger! I think its over 150 on hello cotton
14) Do you wish you had more followers?

No everyone would like more, but I blog for me, and any followers I gain is just a huge bonus.

15) If you weren't a blogger, what would you do?

Seeing my partner a little more! There are nights where I go 'hmmm I feel like blogging tonight' and with no internet access at his I come home away from him! It sounds mean and doesnt happen alot but he doesnt mind anyway as I do tell him in advance, the phone call usually goes 'are you coming over tonight?' me: 'erm well I want to do my blog things I havnt done it in a while and I really feel like doing some but I will see you afterwards! LOVE YOU' he doesnt mind at all as he knows this is important to me and that we are not joined at the hip! I dont mind when he says he wants to watch football and he doesnt mind when I want to ramble on my blog! :)

If any of you want to do this tag, please feel free, and let me know if you do it and send me links so I can read all of yours!! xx

Review - Facial Sheet Mask

Its been a while since I last posted anything and that has mostly been to the fact I have started a new job, and not settled down into a routine yet. With this new job came some problems for my skin, I now work in a stockroom, and its dirty and dusty in there and my skin really suffers!!! I decided to completely overhall my skincare routine and have become more intense with it. I also decided to kick start the process of having nice skin again, I would try out a facial sheet. I tried the Refresh  & Revive - IPL mask. It cost a bargain 69p from home bargains!!

I got this one just in the hope it would appear to give me more radiant looking skin as it became very dull. I must say I was impressed you get a good size mask that covers the whole face, it takes a minute or two to get used to the feel its very soggy but you get used to it. I left it on for 10-15 minutes and once I took it off my skin looked healthier and it had a nice little glow to it! I couldn't be happier with the results! However you do end up looking a bit funny in it!!
I will be buying more of these masks as it did work and made my skin glow, for 69p it is a complete bargain!!

Pro's
It works (dont expect miracles it is not going to fix bad skin but for a nice radiant glow you can't go wrong with this)
Its super affordable
Easy to use

Con's
It feels funny on
Slightly large in the chin area for me

Hope you enjoy this review and if you walk past a home bargains pick one up and try it out

Review - Rimmel Lipstick

Today Im going to review the Rimmel Longlasting Lipstick in shade 028 - Celeb

I simply love this colour, Im so into my pink lipsticks at the moment and this is a perfect everday shade while still being a bit bright and fun. The colour goes on smoothly lasts around 3-4 hours not much longer (for a long lasting colour I was hoping for 6ish hours)
The packaging is ok, nothing special and doesnt draw me to the product like some packaging (I mean HELLOOO that moisture renew packaging is a gorgeous purple much better looking then this)

This at the end of the day is a standard lipstick thats creamy and soft on application. You can get these lipsticks for £4.99 and for the price it is not a bad lipstick I would just like it to last a bit longer, and the styling of the packaging lets it down a bit more. I would give this product a 3/5 and would most likely repurchase for the texture of this lipstick.
